A Hopefully Good Investment

We've been talking for a while about getting a treadmill since we need to get in shape and we both want to lose some weight (I've gained about 30 lbs. since we were married over 2 years ago and I'd like to lose it). So here's our hopefully good investment ....

I think we'll put some good use to it because it's in our home just staring at us. We had a Ward hike last month and we went hiking 2 or 3 times a week for a couple weeks after that, but that didn't last (it takes expensive gas and it's getting hotter outside). We wanted to clean out our 'junk room' and put the treadmill in there, but that room isn't getting cleaned out very fast, so it'll have to go behind our couch for now.

Here are a couple more pictures of the treadmill... with our silly cat ....

She's saying, "Hmm, maybe I can put this to good use, too ..."

"... You bet I'll put this to good use... it'll be my bed." :-)

Hahaha, anyway, in the past month or two, I've lost about 4 or 5 lbs. The treadmill will help tremendously, but other ways I'm helping myself is I'm cutting out most sweets, like chocolate and ice cream.

And instead of snacking on chocolate at work (like peanut m&m's or dark chocolate m&m's... 2 of my favorites), I take a box of reduced fat wheat thins.

I'll probably have to think of another healthy snack when I get sick of those. :-) But I definitely feel better snacking on those than on m&m's.

I also want to lose some weight before we go on our cruise in January. Even though it's a lot of money (I hate when we spend a lot), it'll be a fun experience. And Jeff has told me that we can't take money with us when we die, but we can take the memories. We'll be taking our digital camera and our little video camera (that we bought a couple months ago and have yet to try it out) and we'll take LOTS of pictures. This past Monday, Jeff and I and Jeff's mom and Jeff's sister, Lori, went to the travel agent and finalized our cruise plans. I'll post our itinerary tomorrow or Saturday. I'm excited! :-)

Lucky Jeff!

Jeff found out yesterday that he would be going with one of the Project Managers at his work (the one who told Jeff about the job) onsite to one of the conferences in Miami, Florida. It'll be October 11-17 later this year. Lucky him! He found out I could go, too, if I wanted to, but we'd have to pay for my plane ticket and that would be a week's worth of vacation hours (which I'm saving a few for camping for a few days next month and a week's worth for the cruise in January). I decided I wouldn't go, so we could save money for the cruise and I can save vacation hours. Jeff also might get to put in a lot of overtime that week, too, which will help with cruise expenses, too. I love both our jobs and their income! :-)

Nope, I am not Assistant Project Manager ... but that's okay!

Well, I didn't get the position. The reason that position was open was because the Assistant Project Manager got the Project Manager position. I guess the Project Manager before decided to step down from it. But she got the Assistant Project Manager position, so it's like they switched places. But that's okay! The new Project Manager said it was a hard deicision and that she appreciates all I do, which made me feel good. I would have liked to get more pay and vacation hours and try something new, but I'm content where I'm at and won't be on salary pay and won't have to deal with any stresses and responsibility that come with that position. :-) And I like the team I'm on and my team leader. So all is good!

Will I be an Assistant Project Manager?

I applied at my work to be an Assistant Project Manager. I had my interview this morning at 9:00 and boy, was I nervous!!! But I'm nervous at all interviews I have. I wanted to look nice, but I didn't really want to wear a dress or skirt, so last night when Jeff and I went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping, I bought a pair of black slacks, a nice striped button-up shirt and some shoes that would go well with it. Anyway, I should know by tomorrow if I got the job or not. I'm not sure how many others applied (I doubt not many, if any). I'll be fine with whatever decision they make. I'll love the better pay ($32k per year) and more vacation hours, but maybe it might get stressful at times if there's too much to do and I'll have to put in some overtime (without overtime pay since it's a salary position). Will I be an Assistant Project Manager at Backstage Library Works? Stay tuned tomorrow for the answer ....

Cruise Dates Have Changed

Jeff's parents realized they couldn't do the cruise on the dates mentioned in the post below. Jeff's uncle isn't changing the one he set up (he tried, but other family members can't go other times), so we won't be going with extended family. But Jeff's sister, Lori (being the travel expert that she is), has been looking to find a good deal on other cruises (so that we can still go on one... just Jeff's immediate family). The latest we heard is that we will be going on a different Mexican Riviera cruise Jan. 18, 2009, for probably 7 days (instead of 8). I just thought I'd let everyone know that the date (for us and Jeff's immediate family) was changed. I'm still excited we'll be going on a cruise, though! :-)

We're Going on a Cruise Jan. 31, 2009!!!

So Jeff has an uncle that reserved some rooms on a ship for an 8-day Mexican Riviera Cruise, first for extended family and then for people in his Ward and others. I just got this picture above off of Google Image Search, but I have no idea what the ship we'll be on will look like. Since we both have good paying jobs that we can save lots with, we decided to do this since it'll probably be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Plus, most (if not all) of Jeff's immediate family is going. I'm SO excited!!! We'll definitely have to take tons of pictures and post on this blog. :-) Except it won't be until Jan. 31, 2009. But I can look forward to this for almost 8 months!
